The Confederation of British Metalforming is the UK's leading trade association for manufacturers of fasteners, forgings, pressings, rolled sections, spinnings and sheet metal fabrications.
CBM was created in September 1999 when the British Metalforming Trades Association voted to become a Special Interest Group of the Confederation of British Forgers, which then became the Confederation of British Metalforming, reflecting the wider scope of its membership. The Cold Rolled Sections Association joined the Confederation on 1 July 2000.

The Institute of Sheet Metal Engineering aims to foster and advance the science of working and using sheet metal. Through a varied programme of lectures, forums and works visits the Institute keeps members up to date on developments in manufacturing methods, machinery and processes, automation, health and safety requirements; as well as providing opportunities for the exchange of information, ideas, trends and developments in the industry. Industry news, reports and technical articles are published quarterly in the Institute's newsletter 'ORACLE'.Through its links with Universities the Institute aims to encourage closer co-operation between industry and research establishments. To further the development of sheet metal working skills the Institute arranges an annual sheet metal Craft Awards Competition.The Institute also provides assistance to members in obtaining professional services and products.
