KALLER High-performance/safety, and cost-efficient Gas Springs come to the aid of a Yorkshire based Metal Pressings Company.

Braime Pressings specialises in metal presswork, including deep drawing, multi-stage progression and transfer pressings. Braime have over 130 years of
manufacturing experience giving them a proven record of world class supply to the automotive industry and a range of other markets.

Braime Pressings are well known for their deep draw presswork and manufacture to the highest technical standards with the capability of drawing up to a depth of 220mm.

Components are manufactured from 0.43mm thick material to a depth of 220mm, and from 0.38mm thick material to a depth of 160mm. Currently over 3.5 Million deep drawn components and 13 million progression tool components are produced at their Leeds plant annually.

KALLER had been asked to supply our CU4 1800 016 gas springs for their high-volume automotive tap plate manufacture.

Braime has been able to significantly increase productivity by changing to Kaller gas springs due to a competitor’s product regularly failing after only 250,000 strokes.

The tooling is running over 100,000 Tap plates and Retainers per week at 34 strokes per minute on a range of 5 and 8 stage progression tools. Material thickness on these parts is 0.55mm and 4mm. Depth of draw is 10mm.

With many years of experience gained in high volume Metal Pressing market KALLER could offer our product with confidence, increasing production and reducing down time due to failures of Gas springs.

KALLER CU4 1800 016 gas springs were fitted to the tooling and now have produced more than 750,000 strokes without a gas spring failure. For this application we used our modified seals to extend the service life for Braime which has resulted in no production breaks. KALLER quality gives even more certainty that there will be no unplanned downtime during production, which could mean high financial losses for customers. From a lifecycle cost perspective, the use of KALLER Gas springs offers value that goes far beyond just the purchase price as seen at Braime Pressings.
