UK Reshoring Programme: MMMA urge Members to ‘Get on board’

Over the past two years, the MMMA has supported the UK Reshoring programme initiated by the GTMA. During this time, many hours have been spent putting together a strategy, website design and a UK manufacturing network. The Covid-19 pandemic is exposing the frailties of many UK supply chains, underlining just how reliant they are on the overseas supply for critical items. There should be more impetus put on re-establishing UK production of these parts to protect SME manufacturing. KALLER UK are still working during the global pandemic. They are able to supply next day when required. Added to this, over the last 4 weeks they have had spare capacity within KALLER production, so have taken advantage and increased the stocks at Evesham further. Production of complex-shaped car body components: AP&T demonstrates capabilities in tooling for hot forming of high-strength Aluminum

With AP&T’s production technology for hot forming of aluminum, body components which traditionally consist of several joined parts can be formed in a single step. This technology enables net shape forming and thus also reduced production time and costs for car manufacturers. AP&T delivers press hardening lines to Unipres in the UK and France

Unipres visits AP&T in Ulricehamn, Sweden. Tsutomu Serizawa and Ryoji Maeda from Unipres in the middle, with Peter Robisch and Yuki Yoshikawa from AP&T on either side. Japanese Unipres supplies many of the world’s major car manufacturers with car body parts made out of pressed sheet metal.
