The successful company in Trångsviken in northern Sweden is expanding at a rapid rate. In order to cope with the surge in demand for storm cookers and related products, a new press line has been ordered from AP&T which will boost production capacity by an impressive 50 percent.

In recent years, the legendary storm cooker manufacturer Trangia in the small town of Trångsviken, 40 km from Östersund in northern Sweden has been experiencing record-breaking growth. Sales have tripled and the number of employees has risen from 22 to 85. More than 70 percent of sales are now accounted for from outside of Sweden.

“A growing climate awareness along with people’s desire to live in a more sustainable way has promoted interest in intimate experiences in nature, and the pandemic has helped reinforce this trend. This has resulted in more and more people opening their eyes to our products,” says Trangia’s CEO Magnus Rydell.

In order to meet global demand, Trangia has ordered a new fully automatic production line from AP&T for installation this fall, which will increase the capacity for manufacturing mess tins and other deep-drawn aluminum containers by 50 percent.

“It will be a welcome addition to our two existing production lines from AP&T that we have been operating since the 1990s and which form the backbone of our production capability. The machines have been continuously serviced and upgraded with new control systems and automation and are still performing superbly well. So now when the time is right to invest again, it seemed obvious to turn to AP&T who are always keen to share their knowledge while offering high quality products and excellent support. It is also gratifying to have the option of buying machines made in Sweden.”

“It is really great to hear that things are going so well for Trangia and that we have now been entrusted to deliver another new production line which includes a service agreement. We are truly looking forward to being involved and creating the platform for continued growth in a reputable, well-established company with its future in its own hands,” says Krister Pettersson, Key Account Manager at AP&T.

The order in brief

Fully automatic production line for the manufacture of deep-drawn aluminum products. The order includes a press with 100 tons of pressing force, automation for input and output, safety and control systems and an interface to Trangia’s special machinery.

Delivery, installation and commissioning are scheduled for the fall of 2021.
